Julie Bryant - HouseDoctor

Having spent many hours as a young child being persuaded to trek around numerous muddy and wet building sites by a mother who was an ’amateur showhouse viewer’, Julie’s interest in the property market was born - albeit only after being bribed with copious amounts of sweets!

Moving into her first apartment, Julie discovered the joys of ’junk shops’ and bargain market buys. Using her natural love of colour and possessing a natural flair for ’throwing things together’ for dramatic effect, she created a welcoming, attractive home for practically next to nothing. Having greatly impressed her landlord with her efforts, he proceeded to show every prospective tenant around her apartment whilst explaining how they could also achieve just as attractive a home with very little expense. However, being able to create in this way can be compared with being a great chef. You can mix together the specified ingredients, but without the natural love and passion for your creation, it can still turn out to be bland and tasteless.

The early years of Julie’s career were spent learning the business in the ’bricks and mortar’ section of the market working for a number of well-known builders’ merchants. Her interest turned towards the home décor market where she spent a number of years working for a well-known wallpaper and fabric manufacturer. She was instrumental in the launch of the UK’s first range of coordinated wallpaper and soft furnishings into large department stores and DIY chains. A trend had been created that is just as popular today.

Desiring to flex her wings in an even more creative way, Julie went on to train at The Hampstead School of Decorative Arts, learning the skills of specialised decorating techniques. Following a number of prestigious commissions including the decoration of a London apartment owned by a Saudi Prince, she was offered the opportunity to train as a showhouse designer.

It was at this point that she began to feel a sense of déjà vu! Things appeared to have come full circle and she felt as though she had ’come home’. Working for many of the UK’s largest builders including Bellway Homes, McAlpine and St.George she has designed many showhomes all over the South of England. Progressing within the company, Julie moved into the contracts division where her role led her to working with clients in the Far East and the UK. Supporting developers such as Regalian and Ladbrokes, whilst working closely alongside agents such as Hampton’s and Savills, she designed and furnished many London apartments for overseas purchasers.

Drawing upon over 20 years experience of the housing market and with proven knowledge of ’the consumer appeal factor’, Julie is proud to present the arrival of ’housedoctors.co.uk.’
